The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock illustrates the tension of Love vs. Lust. This tension can also be seen in Breaking Bad when Walter is thinking about his family and if its worth it to keep cooking meth. He believes he is cooking meth because he loves his family, but after Skyler tells him that he is just doing it because he wants to, Walter starts to have a conflict with himself. When Prufrock is at the top of the stairs thinking that maybe the girl he loves is just lust, we can draw the connection to when Walter is thinking about whether he should continue his business or if h should quit for his family.
